Artisans around the world: China and Vietnam.

Our journey continues. Our blog expedition takes us around the world visiting the workshops where our pieces are made, recognising the skill of the artisans who craft them. From the North of India with its pink mountains and dry terrain, to the tropical South with its palm trees and scenic coastline, we now head easterly into China and Vietnam…

Vietnamese culture, Chinese culture

In China, traditional upturned roofs punctuate modern cityscapes and red lanterns glow in the night. A pioneer of production on a global scale, we discover workshops run with unerring efficiency where artisans exercise great skill at impressive speed.

In Vietnam, scooters line the streets and the delicious aroma from sizzling street stalls travels in the air. It’s here that the Danish designers we work with have set up shop, creating Scandinavian-inspired pieces like our much-loved Mimi sofas and armchairs. We’re delighted by the display of craft and creativity, and the fascinating personal stories the artisans openly share with us.

More faces, more stories; the latest leg of our blog expedition has helped us to learn more about the lives of our artisans, their families and their culture, discovering their happiest moments and their saddest. Our mission to humanise furniture continues. Full steam ahead.
