Hex Appeal: storage inspired by geometry

There’s a certain ‘je ne sais quoi’ floating around our latest storage designs – and it’s not just the fact that they’re stirring up a storm in the Swoon HQ with their bold beauty.

For those who do know what, it’s the incorporation of certain geometric motifs into their design. It’s because they pair function with truly mesmerising details, inspired by the shapes and lines of our landscapes.

So we’ve dabbed our pens in the inkpot of inspiration to bring you the lowdown on your next obsession – geometric storage.

– Linear –

The Lima

Our first entry is the Lima, borrowing some striking linear geometry from the Huaca Pucllana ruins that one of the Swoon Studio happened upon during a road trip around South America.

The grooved lines, etched across the TV stands and sideboards of the Lima range, provide tactility, as well as eye-catching appeal and contemporary slickness. A simple colour palette tones down the geometry (but not too much), all the while highlighting the shadows it leaves.

We’re hypnotised and there’s not a pendant in sight – unless you fancy shopping gorgeous lighting to create a glow above your new design. Browse lighting here.

The Onyx

Onyx bar cabinet for bottle storage

It’s not the pattern on this one – the Onyx bears the geometry in its silhouette. Its unique, hexagonal silhouette. We shouldn’t have favourites, but this six-sided stunner gave our storage collection hex appeal in swathes.

This cabinet is the ‘super statement’ you’ve been yearning for all along, because you can’t look at that hexagonal door and not feel the magnetism of original design. Pull the brassy handles to unveil a beautifully organised interior, with a dedicated place for both glasses and bottles. How else are you going to store and protect your champagne collection?

This is storage for the statement-makers, the storytellers and those with creative flair and a home obsession (i.e. you, us).

The Volterra

A bestselling range that we add to time and time again because you guys love it so much, the Volterra finds its geometry in subtle measure: handles.

Because we’re not ones for designing a gorgeous frame and giving it dull handles. Every detail counts when it comes to the Swoon Studio’s designs, and that includes triangles coated in brass. With two colourways to choose from, function meets a gorgeous colour trio, whether warm-toned or emanating serious Scandinavian vibes. But the triangles are the real drawer (geddit?), contributing to the Volterra’s mystique and bringing an Art Deco-style quirk to a simple backdrop.

And storage isn’t limited to one room or one capacity here. The Volterra is ready for the bedroom, living room and any space that requires decluttering – with bedside tables, chests of drawers (in two sizes, FYI), coffee tables and sideboards.

It’s enough to make us wish we paid more attention in trigonometry lessons.

– Block-coloured –

The Apollo

The power of three gets all geometric on our storage – three-sided shapes, tessellated alongside each other as a trio.

Like us, you really love mixed materials, so we’ve given you more. The Apollo sideboards have a layered facade, with each triangle dressed in its own texture and colour – brass foil and deeply toned timber.

The key feature of this stellar storage, however – as well as shapes, shapes, shapes – is the block colouring created by this clean-cut, geometric tessellation. Deep brown and black contrast against a brilliant brass tone in true statement style to give a sultry, moody yet super opulent vibe.

This living room piece for stowing away clutter and guarding your treasures looks bang on trend when spotlighted under our favourite pendants or wall lamps – whether to bring light to winter nights or to keep the summer glow going. Check them out here.

Like them all? We don’t blame you. Life’s short – shop storage.
