Dipak, 32 – sandcaster.
“I have one son. His name is Yesh and he’s a historian. He took a path I didn’t expect him to take.”
“I was taught how to sand cast by a guru of craft, Shyam Ji. I’ve been working alongside him for six years. I think sand casting will increase in popularity, tourists will help to keep it alive; they have faith in handicraft like we do. It’s an art and it deserves to have a future.”
Dipak is a sand caster and works on our brass plate-and-ring handles. They’re used on a number of our French and modern country designs including the Claude petite chests and the Camille chests of drawers.
