Hōa, 21 – upholsterer.
“I’m an adventurer. I left home at 14 and have moved from city to city ever since. The country is so boring. I love city life. And because I’m friendly and kind, people like me – so I always make friends easily.”
“I’ve worked in construction, restaurants, factories. I like any kind of work, except for agricultural work! I got this scar on my cheek working in construction. I also broke my right thumb and now I can’t bend it anymore.”
Hōa hasn’t seen his birth parents in three years, but he spent the New Year with his adopted mother. “She didn’t adopt me, I adopted her. We’ve been through a lot together; I visit her regularly.”
Hōa works on the upholstery for our mid-century style Mimi sofas, armchairs, footstools and pouffes.
