Kè, 26 – finishing artisan.
“I’m sorry to stare – I just love to look at foreigners. We don’t see many here.”
“I used to work in Ho Chi Minh City’s China Town, selling noodles. That was ten years ago. My favourite kind of noodles are Hu Tiêu. It’s a dish with Chinese-Cambodian origins, which is great, because I’m Chinese-Cambodian too! My mother is Khmer and my dad is from China.”
“I’ve only worked here for six days, but I’m enjoying it very much. It’s definitely better than serving noodles!”
Kè works on the finishing of the oak legs used on a number of our Scandi and mid-century style pieces.
