Ladhu Singh, carpenter.

“My name translates as ‘found out along the way’. It doesn’t sound beautiful like some Indian names. It doesn’t mean prince or sacred one, but to me it’s still blessed. It shows how my life is a journey.”

“My work doesn’t feel like a job in the typical sense. I feel like a child playing with my toys. It’s not a burden.”

Ladhu originally comes from Pakistan. He moved to Jodhpur as a refugee with his family. “For many years I didn’t feel I belonged. My family and I were not in the sky, not on the earth, just in between. It took a long time for us to feel stable again.”

Ladhu is a carpenter who works across a wide variety of our mid-century wooden designs.
