“Modern life is an assault on the senses – especially visually. It’s only when you stop that you see beauty in the simplest shapes.”
If there’s anything that catches attention at Swoon HQ, it’s plants. Who knew that when our delivery from Patch arrived it would cause such a stir? “Where are these from?” “I like this one.” “Are we allowed to keep these?” “Can I take this one home?” And so on, and so forth.
Sometimes a city takes you by surprise and Wrocław is almost guaranteed to be one of them when it comes to colour inspiration.
You can tell a lot about a person by the cocktails they drink, or so they say. Just like your interior style, cocktails can be fun and quirky, smooth and elegant, fresh and lively, or simple and timeless. But can we tell which furniture suits you based on your favourite cocktails? We can certainly try.

Move over muted minimalism – 2018 is the year of the maximalist. The year of stepping into creativity and presenting your personality to the world. Compact living – it’s a thing. Ever-increasing house prices mean that small living spaces are a reality for most of us. But it needn’t be a bad thing. Small spaces are quicker to heat, easier to clean and now, the land of design is catching up with the magic of ‘micro’.
First impressions mean everything. Or so they say. Well, we say it too, and it’s true of your hallway – the first part of your home that anyone sees. “Carpentry has been in my family for generations. I’ve been around it from a very early age, picking up skills as I got older. It’s more than a job for me. I even have my own band saw at home.”

“My outlook on life is simple. I’m happy to take life as it comes. I approach life with this line in my head: ‘I’ve put my boat in the water, let the water decide where it moves.’”
“Inspiration can definitely come from the unexpected, but I’m almost always influenced by my travels. My family moved a lot when I was younger and I often find elements of Middle Eastern and Nordic cultures wind their way into my designs – sometimes totally subconsciously.”
Hastaram actually means ‘laughing man’. But when we talk to Hastaram, we soon learn he’s a serious character. He laughed when we asked to take his photograph though.
“I love history and I love travel. I grew up in Uttar Pradesh, but then travelled with a group of friends. We came to Jaipur a few years ago to explore its history. The fort and the palace are my favourite places here.” We asked him where his favourite place is in the world, but […]

I moved from my home in Mandawa when I’d just turned twenty. It’s a place of strong community, so it makes the distance easy to cope with. My childhood friends are still my friends. Phones help too, but it can be hard to end a call sometimes. 15 minutes later and I’m still there.”
Just watching her, the movement of her arms and her legs, soft and slow, determined and confident, is hypnotic. Bearing cameras and foreign curiosity, we’re at first concerned that we may be disturbing her. We soon realise she hasn’t registered our presence at all.
